We believe that the Minister of Environment, Laurel Broten, needs to
be accountable for her decision, and if she is not willing to discuss this
issue with our municipalities or with us, then Premier McGuinty needs to do so.

We believe that the Ministry of Health needs to take an active role in
this issue. After all, they are the experts with regards to Human Health
issues, not the Ministry of Environment! The Ministry of Environment has absolutely ignored the November, 2006 request of the KFL&A Board of Health to the Signing Director, Ministry of the
Environment, Ontario, to hold an Environmental Review Tribunal Hearing under
Part V, Section 32 of the Environmental Protection Act for Lafarge's waste
disposal site application to ensure full participation of members of the
public in the Approvals process and the issuance of Certificates of Approval
that deal with spills, pollutant emissions to the atmosphere and
non-compliance penalties.

January 22, 2007 - Letter to Lisa Mychajluk, Senior Policy Coordinator, Waste Management Policy Branch, Province of Ontario:
The Government of Ontario has proposed a province wide ban on incineration of
tires, but has exempted Lafarge's Bath plant from this ban. The Province has imposed a deadline of February 12, 2007 for commenting on the proposed Resolution.
We need to demand before the deadline of February 12, 2007 that the proposal be rejected as currently worded. We need to request that the MOE propose an amended
resolution requesting a province-wide ban on the incineration of tires at all facilities, specifically including Lafarge Canada, Bath plant in the ban as well, until such a time as a province-wide environmental assessment of this process is completed.
We have prepared a basic formal Comment to the Environmental Review
Tribunal. This letter to the ERT has suggested comments in response to the proposed plan for regulation under the Environmental Protection Act to ban the burning of tires for a minimum of 2 years. If you agree, please sign your name and print or
